As this Lenten season began on Ash Wednesday, the fifth grade students are encouraged to participate in the Lenten practices of praying, fasting, and almsgiving. We are reading selections from our Bible Story books and writing questions in preparation for the Easter Trivia Contest.
In science class, the students are beginning our earth science unit learning how to classify minerals by their properties.
In language arts, students will learn how to write a research paper. They will need to research an assigned country using books and the Internet. We will also be focusing on verbs.
In social studies, fifth graders will begin focusing on the Revolutionary War.
In math class, the students are studying fractions. We are learning about equivalent fractions, simplest form, compare or order fractions, and mixed numbers. A helpful site is www.sheppardsoftware.com .
Happy St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's Day!
